A Cornerstone Faith

The word Christian, first used in the city of Antioch (Acts 11:26) means "Christ-like" not "Christ." We who are Christians are striving to be like Christ. We long to follow His example; walk as He walked, talk as He talked, do as He did and love as He loved. Though many groups disagree on specifics of the "religion", all Christians claim Jesus Christ as Lord. He was born of a Virgin (Matthew 1:18 & 23), lived a sinless life in spite of severe tmeptation (Matthew 4:1-11 and Hebrews 4:15), died a criminals death on a Roman Cross (Matthew 27:33-50), He acheived victory over the grave after three days (Matthew 28:1-20, and after revealing Himself to His followers He ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God (Acts 1:2-9). The ultimate reason for our faith is the promise made to Jesus' disciples after His ascension "...this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)
These principles point all Christians to the Cornerstone of our faith. In Acts 4:11 it says, "This stone which you builders rejected, This same has become the Cornerstone". That stone is our Saviour, Jesus Christ. When He is accepted as Lord and Saviour of our lives, He becomes the basis for our living, Our Cornerstone.
