Recently I was visiting Aberdeen, Miss. I walked through the Aberdeen Cemetery and discovered two graves that are puzzling. Perhaps someone
may/will help me with identification of these two men. Both graves are side by side and their tombstones are identical:
John L. PARK "born 1812 a native of Greene Co., Ga." died 28th year of his agee." adjacent to the above grave:
"Sacred to the memory of Washington Evans (maybe Park--couldn't read it) born in Lincoln Co. GA Sept 7, 1821, died 20 July 1849"
I have Parks and Daniels from Greene County, but I am puzzled about these two men. Any help? Thanks

I am seeking information about a train wreck at Union Point, Ga., in late
July 1877. The engineer was one of my forebears, Zachariah Jabez ARMISTEAD of Alcovy, Ga., in Newton County. This was on the Georgia Railroad, and family tradition says Zach was the engineer of the train. Zachariah had enlisted at age 15 in the Confederate Army, was captured by the Yankees and survived years in two notorious Yankee prison camps, one of them Camp Chase
in Maryland. He survived all this only to return home and be killed in a railroad crash. I have no access to Greene County records but wondered if there might be an old newspaper account of how the accident occurred. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
