Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys
Super Sleuths! (#1)

"Together for the first time," the cover proclaimed. Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys: Super Sleuths! was published in 1981 by Wanderer Books, and was later reprinted in the same format by Minstrel Books (both imprints of Simon & Schuster). The book was credited to Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon, who wrote a short foreword.

Frank and Joe meet Nancy in seven short stories:

  1. Mistaken Identity
  2. The Pirate Cove Treasure
  3. The Armored Lady
  4. The Interlocking Maze
  5. The Bank Robbery Puzzle
  6. Clue in the Chimes
  7. The Secret of Mountaintop Inn
 Super Sleuths

Some aspects of the book are disappointing. In the first story, Nancy simply arrives in Bayport for a visit with the Hardys, and the three act like old friends. It's too bad that the creators decided to waste the potential magic of an initial Drew/Hardy meeting. As well, the cover art is unconvincing: Frank and Joe are quite obviously cut-and-pasted into the original painting of Nancy.
