1729.......Old Perlican was one of the eleven harbours in Newfoundland to warrant the appointment of a Justice of the Peace.
1763.......Old Perlican had a population of 429 famillies, the names were Barrett, Cramm, Hopkins, Pike, Tilley, Woodlands.
1775.......The first school was built by John Hoskins who was the first teacher.
1778.......The first church was built and John Hoskins was the first Preacher.
1812.......Oldest tombstone in Forge Hill Cemetery was erected to James Goobie who was a missionary in Old Perlican.
1882.......Coombs family took over the blacksmith business from Joseph Boyd.
1886.......First Cabot L.O.L. #49 was built and the Loyal Orange Association was formed. This building was later destroyed by fire and another one was built in 1895.
1886.......Georgie Howell bought out Ebenezer March's business in Old Perlican.
1905.......The first school in the west end of Old Perlican was built.
1905.......The first railway came to Old Perlican. The first railway station agent was Alexander March, son of George March.
1910.......The first light house keeper on Old Perlican Island was Stephen Cramm.
1914-18....The first Bank of Nova Scotia was built.
1924.......Goodyears Road, now known as Trinity South Highway was built.
1925.......Work started on the old cement church.
1928.......The cement church was opened. The first minister was Rev. Gilbert Ivany.
1928.......Electricity came to Old Perlican.
1930.......George Hopkins had the largest business in Old Perlican.
1931.......The railway station closed.
1933.......Russell Hall was built.
1933.......The rails were taken up.
1936.......The Cottage Hospital was built.
1943.......Thomas Strong opened one of the first fresh fish plants in Newfoundland.
1947.......The new west end school was built.
1947.......The new Cabot L.O.L. #349 was built.
1949.......The Gospel Hall was built. It was opened by Stanley Beasley.
1954.......George Hopkins new store was built.
1958.......The new post office (the one that is here today) was officialy opened. The first post master was Stephen March.
1958.......John Hoskins Memorial Academy was opened.
1968.......The main water line from Bell Pond to the fish plant was laid by Beaver Construction.
1968.......St. Andrews By the Sea United Church was built. The officiating clergy was Rev. T.C. Rodgers.
1969.......The first break water was built by Browns Construction.
1970.......Bank of Nova Scotia was opened.
1971.......Town of Old Perlican was incorporated.
1974.......The Town Hall was built.
1975.......December 28th the Ocean Harvesters fish plant was partly destroyed by fire.
1976.......Public Library was opened.
1978.......The first light house was burned by officials in order to clear the site for the erection of a new and more modern structure in 1978.
1978.......Quinlans fish plant was built in Old Perlican.
1979.......21 longliners fished out of Old Perlican, hundreds of nets were lost by ice.
1984.......New Fire Hall was opened.
1986.......Old Perlican Cottage Hospital took the name of Dr. A. A. Wilkinson Memorial Hospital.
1986.......The R.C.M.P. sub detachment was opened in Old Perlican.
