The steel hook with the v-shape bend in it on your vintage page looks like one that I have seen a drawing of. The "article" was explaining a rug making technique that used a hook shaped like that. Of course the steel hook you have pictured wouldn't work
cuz its so small. Have you heard of/seen any larger hooks with that shape? I'm dying to try this rug technique but I'm afraid the hooks ar lost to time. Funny, isn't it usually the patterns and not the hooks that are lost!?!
Enjoyed your site emensely!!!!!!!

I have just started crochet again after a leave of over 20 years. I have too many hobbies. My best sill is all types of embrodiary. I quilt, tole paint, sew, craft, scrapbook & memory albums and anything else that suits my fancy. Trouble is that I nee
to concentrate on 1 or two things. I have pretty much decided I could cut it down to my memory books for my grandkids, crochet/embrodiary (they don't require much space or a lot of supplies albeit books/fliers and maybe finish up using the material I ha
e for quilting or at the very least finish the quilt tops I have started. Is there anyone else out there like me???

I liked your website! I just started surfing the net and everyday I find a new crochet website and I really enjoy seeing just how many people crochet. I really like the quote you have at the begining of your site about teaching someone else to crochet,
y grandma taught me when I was about 8 years old, even though it took me about 10 years to do something other than a very long chain, I love to crochet. I just started thread crochet, and I love it! My grandma (who's 92 yrs young) has also been doing a
ot of fillet patterns. I can't wait to show her at Christmas how much I appreciate her spending all the time and patience she gave to me teaching me crochet. You have a great looking family!! Thanks for the great site!!!

I really enjoyed your page. Nice to see a "real" family and such a happy one. I recently volunteered to make a crocheted edging for a friend's antique shop curtains. I couldn't believe I could actually do it!! LOL I particularly like your pansy doily
Lovely work. Do you think that magazine is out there where I might get the pattern? I don't know if I could do it but it might be something to dream about!! Do you still subscribe to Workbasket?
Anyway, certainly enjoyed your site. Thank you.

I love history and crochet. Have recently joined cp and cn; especially interested in old hooks but have found very few in shops near me. My granny taught me to crochet 35 years ago at age 7. We used to keep our hooks straight by the color and if that matc
ed, by the price stamped on them. I'd like to have a set of Boye with prices stamped on like they used to do in the 70s before UPC codes made packaging a necessity. My "cheapest" was a G for 29cents. It was really my granny's. I now have a few of them but
have only recently realized (since her death, I guess) how much they connect me to her. If you discover any like these, I'd love to buy them. I'd also like to have a hand carved double ended hook or other old hooks, but don't know where to look as my "an
ique" and junk stores around here don't seem to be a source. Do you have any suggestions? I will continue to watch your site. Crocheting with an old hook is like sharing something tangible with someone from the past. Thanks again. I enjoyed your site v
ry much.

I too have a small collection of crochet hooks - most acquired from a friends old aunts. I look everytime I go to an antique shop but they are hard to find. Most of the ones I have come across that are different are from around the Finger Lakes region of
ew York.
Another subject - My mothers maiden name was Siedenburg and she came from NYC. Her father was an only child so there are no other relatives around that I know of. I did have a teacher in elementary school with the same name.

I am new at Crocheting....teaching myself. Any good advise would be greatly appreciated. I love looking at all the neat projects that the "experienced" crocheters do. Someday I hope to accomplish something like that. Thanks your letting me look at you
projects.
