Have you made any connection with the family line of WILSEY? I would be interested in seeing what you have on the spelling of WILSEY, if anything. I have traced my WILSEYs back to William Wilsey born in Sussex County, NY, in 1796. William married Catherine Landon of Bedford County, PA, and they had 4 sons between 1828 and 1836. In 1836 this WILSEY family migrated westward through Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and finally settled in Clark County, Missouri — although a number of them did move back and forth between Lee County, IA, Hancock, IL, and Clark County throughout the years. Other surnames for which I am searching are WAPLES, HARSCH, DART, GIBSON, and ARNOLD. If any of this information matches some part of your family tree, I would like to hear from you. I have much more information on this line that I would be willing to share with a collateral line.

He is reported to have been a Baron, born in Luxembourg abt 1550, and the father of Philippe Maton Wiltsee who came to the US and died in Delaware. The other Wiltse I hav info are from NY in the Dutch Colonial area. Rachel Wiltsey, Gerald's great-grandmother, moved to Iowa with her husband, Alexander Soop. She died in Webster City, Hamilton Co. I have a Wiltse genealogy written by Hal Wiltse that follows yours only through the third generation - (Martin and his wife Maria Van Wyck). My father Milton, had a sister Margaret and a brothr Donald.They were all born in Alexandria Bay, NY. Their fathe was Clinton Wiltse, only son of Richard Wiltse, who we think eventualy went to Iowa and died there. I have a sister, Ula, named after Clinton's wife,and a brother, Milton. He has one son, Nathan (they live in Alaska) and a cousin George, son of Donald w o has two sons. That is all that is left of the Wiltse name of our part of the family. Since my search for Abigial's parents has just commenced, I am surfing around trying to get details on the Wiltse (and variations) families of New York State. The Mormon fiche seems to indicate that Abbey was born 3-4-1802, which matches her age as given on the 1855 N. Y. State Census, for Tn. of Alexandria, Jeff. Co., N. Y. However, that same census states that she was born in Otsego Co., N. . So there are doubts, unless the family later moved to that county. The Mormon fiche shows parents of Abbey to be John and Rachel. I was hoping to find some mention of this couple on your site. However, from looking at your wonderful works, I suspect that she descends from on of J cob's children by his second marriage to Amy Snyder. It would be interesting to trace the nine children - to determine how many of them were males - and to trace their migrations around New York State. Excellent site. There were Wiltse's from Dutchess Co. who were United Empire Loyalists. They immigrated to Odelltown in the Eastern Townships, now Quebec, after the war. From there several families moved to Leeds Co. and Middelsex Co. in Ontario. The earl est descendant, from Dutchess Co. i could find was Jeremiah, married to Mary Smith. They had 3 sons born between 1748 and 1764.
