Dogo, passion and hunting
Antonio Nores
Martínez, the creator of this race, rushed to the adventure of
fixing a canine race that outside of vital utility for the
biggest hunt in our country, since to his to understand, which
was very valid, the conditions for this hunt are very different
to those of other latitudes: forests virgin almost impenetrable,
big immensities of varied and difficult topography where the
species predadoras was housewives.
It was necessary a
very strong and vital dog, but above all quiet, that would beats
the mount in the one bigger than the silences and it is only made
listen when it is on their prey, giving the warning to their pack
partners and their master, he should never bark on the rake like
they make it most of the hunt dogs. He should born with air
smell, as the Pointer; that condition is fundamental in the
persecution of the felines, since it will be full known by any
hunter of all the tricks and tricks of those that a puma is been
worth; for example, to avoid his pursuer it climbs to you hoist
them, it jumps of branch in branch or it returns on his rake,
artifices that it would mislead to the best scanner, but not to a
dog with exquisite air smell as him wanted.
The agility was
another of the factors to keep in mind, but it should be
accompanied with force and power, since any medium dog and with
agility it can reach a boar or a wild boar; the case is later to
be able to support its embate.
He should be very
valiant, to make prey to the most difficult opponent and to
support the combat, trying to immobilize him so that the man
finishes it and in the case of this not to arrive, to try him of
making it to his way, but never to loose his prey although in his
desire offering his life.
Regarding their size, he
preferred the dog of medium height, since their experience showed
him that the copies of great raised they were clumsy to be able
to be unwrapped in the narrow paths of our mounts, in those that
the human being should sometimes pass crawling due to the dense
one, thorns and low foliage of the vegetation. But that same
experience also marked him that for the selection he should
choose the strongest that coincide almost always with those of
more size, since, servants in the field, the excessive work to
early age and the feeding not very appropriate they would reduce
its size. Those same copies, under other regímenes of life, with
all the necessary cares, would be true colossuses.
It should be a dog of noble
character, not aggressive, but faithful guardian of their
property.
The elected color was the
white, since it would be unmistakable among the shades of the
mounts, because it doesn't exist in our animal territory with
that tonality, except for some albino one.
