Great Champion Tilcara de Nores Martínez

He was born in Córdoba, located in the mediterranean central region of the territory of Argentina. Their creator was Doctor Antonio Nores Martínez, member of an upper class and traditional family of that country; of profession doctor and for legacy family lover of the dogs, it fixed in the year 1928 the bases from a race to which would denominate Argentine Dogo. It left their work of the methodical crossing of several pure races and of one that was the better known one among the bloody and fanatic fighters of dogs in those moments, common activity for those then that called Fighting Dog of Córdoba, a crossbreed with blood of Bull Terrier, Bulldog or Mastiff, of a tremendous power and strength, but unstable psychic and genetically.

After an intense study of characters and through several generations it achieves their objective.

In their origins it was a combat dog for many, but the fervour for the hunt he makes that he is given participation in some of their so common hunt departures, demonstrating him in the same ones their qualities to such an end; the functional gymnastics and the metamorphosis taken place by the environment transform it into an excellent Dog of Hunt. It is that same metamorphosis what takes it today, through the time, to a versatile dog in their functions, since he has demonstrated to be an exemplary nobleman of company and faithful and impassable protector of what loves.

Their strength and tenacity, their smell and bravery, they make it inigualable inside the pack dogs for the hunt of the boar, peccary, puma and other species predators that inhabit the vast and heterogeneous Argentinean regions that go from muddy swamps to encarpadas serranías, going by extensive pampas, covered with closed and thorny vegetation.

Their harmony and balance, the excellent musculature, characteristic of an athlete, makes it ideal to support long voyages in diverse climates and after them to sustain arduous combat with the pursued prey.

It was May 21 1964 when it is recognised by the Federación Cinológica Argentina and for the Rural Society Argentine, and the July, 31 of 1973 admit it the Federación Cinológica International as unique race of Argentinean origin, thanks to the inigualable work and effort of a group of taken lovers of the same one of the hand for the vehemence and their creator's brother's passion, doctor Agustín Nores Martínez.

The remarkable growth of this race has taken him today to be very considered practically in the entire world, what makes proud those that here, its origin country, we continue raising him with the same passion that in its beginnings, since the passion is integral part of this race and very difficult to be able to separate it of her, because, like he said in its moment its creator, doctor Antonio Nores Martínez: "The ideas that are born without passion, are born dead."

Article published in the Magazine "The World of the Dog" in July 1996.
