Well, what is there to tell about me? I was born and raised in the Southern California area, and lived everywhere from San Gabriel to Anaheim and a number of places in between. I lived there for 22 years, and moved to central Missouri in December of 1993, where I am now.
I was adopted by -- and presently live with -- my maternal grandmother, who has been my "Mom" my entire life. I know my natural mother and have spent some time with her, but she lives in Washington state, and so I do not get to see her very often. I have four sisters and three brothers in my adopted family, and I am the youngest by 9 years, so I was the spoiled one. My parents split up when I was young and I have been an 'only child', living with my mom, since then.
By nature, I am rather shy and soft spoken, and don't much like to be in crowds, or the center of attention... at least not in person. When I am online, I tend to be the person I feel is the "real me" and not bottled up by my shyness.
I am a computer fanatic... have been playing with them since the sixth grade, when the Christian elementary school I went to invested in a number of Commodore 64 computers and put us on a typing tutor program. The summer I was 13, I went to visit my uncle in Hawaii for a month, and my uncle turned me loose on his TRS-80, with two books on programming in BASIC. I learned to hate a cassette drive with a passion, but I did manage to learn a little bit of programming, and that is where my love for computers began.
I took some computer classes in high school, and when I finished my assignments ahead of schedule, I would spend my free time writing stories, at least when I wasn't getting asked to help my classmates. I didn't have my own computer until I graduated, and so I used them where I could. Even when I did get my own system, I still wrote a couple short stories in my WordPerfect class in college, taking advantage of their HP laser printers. Writing has been another passion of mine, for about the same amount of time. From the time I learned to read, I used to devour books as fast as I could get my hands on them, and I guess eventually I decided that I could probably write stories, too. I can remember starting my first story when I was in the seventh grade... I was crazy about horses at that time, and I wrote a 'horse story' about myself and my twin friends. Well, I started writing one at any rate... I never did finish it, and I haven't gone back and looked at it in quite some time, but I'll bet it's awful! These days, though, I am very much addicted to the Internet, which means that I tend not to do very much writing. I like to chat on IRC, read a couple Usenet newsgroups, and play games with my online friends. Many of my online friends are very dear to me, but there is one friendship that has turned out to be very, very special, and I am very glad that he and I somehow managed to find each other.
