Wintertime at
Mirthaven
may look a little different....

But
the training, chores, and life go on very much the same. Babies are born, the Emus lay
their eggs, and everybody has to be fed, watered and receive fresh bedding.

"Lambert"
Sometimes
pets require special care, like Lambert, who was born lame and was rejected by his mother.
A visit by the vet, TLC, and special formula were required regardless of the time....or
the weather! Having pets is a big responsibility and can be alot of work! Research and be
prepared BEFORE you acquire. After all, they depend on you!

Did you
know that the male Emu hatches the eggs? "Ladybird" lays a clutch of eight to
ten emerald green eggs over a two week period. When she is finished "Ladybird"
stands guard while "Lyndon" nests for a period of fifty-two days in a
semi-hibernative state... not eating or drinking until the babies are hatched!

Christmas at Mirthaven is a
lot of fun! Santa came and brought his Peppermint Pony for a visit while he worked on some
extra toys in the workshop out back. He loves staying in the cabins
here!

Mirthaven
still has visitors on the warmer days.
