A-AH-AH-Choo !
Hi folks,
I have been sitting here contemplating the deep
mysteries of life, and was totally stumped...
It all started when i got the sneezies..
Because of allergies I started sneezing one after another,
and each time someone in the room said "Bless You"
I was blessed like 12 times in a row. I am lucky I guess.
Well it got me thinking..
Does that person really have the power to bless me ?
And why do they say that anyways ?
I mean walk down any street and never say hello to a stranger..
but hear him sneeze and you promptly say "Bless You" !
And if you aren't sure if he's an atheist or not, you say
"Geshundit" whatever that means ....lol
And if you happen to sneeze on someone ( Yuk )
They still bless you, and you say thankyou ????
Does it make sense ?
Let's stop this insanity...
I did a little research and this is what I found out...

Tiberius Caesar in AD 150 would ride around in his chariot and shout "Bless you" to any
member of the public that sneezed, and "Bless you, bless you my dear" to the second
and third sneezes.

Evidently the offer of blessing arose from a serious disease that attacked the early
Romans in which sneezing was one of the main symptoms. Sufferers frequently died as
a result, although it was believed that the more blessings offered, the less likely the
chance of death.

It was also thought to be a form of well-wishing. "God bless you" and "God keep you"
were offering of good health and care to those that sneezed.

Sneezing was also common among sufferers of the bubonic plague during the Middle
Ages in Europe, and so the custom of blessing the sneezer continues to this day as a
worthy precaution.

And it was also believed that  when a person sneezed, the soul left the body..
so by saying God Bless You.. You wouldn't lose your soul.

So why do we still do this today ?
Instead of blessing everyone..give them a hankie or kleenex and
tell them to blow their nose...and for heavens sake tell them
to cover their mouth, cause I won't bless anyone who
sneezes all over me !
Yuk

If you sneeze on Monday, you sneeze in danger;
Sneeze on Tuesday, kiss a stranger;
Sneeze on Wednesday, sneeze for a letter;
Sneeze on Thursday, something better;
Sneeze on Friday, sneeze for sorrow;
Sneeze on Saturday, see your sweetheart tomorrow;
Sneeze on Sunday, and the devil will have domination over you all week!
