Abt. 1836 - 1970

You have now completed the portion of the tour that deals with my blood relatives. This page, and those that follow, are dedicated to Manoel d'Almeida Sobral, the man who married my great-grandmother (just 10 days after his divorce from another woman was finalized!), who adopted my grandfather, and who my mother simply knew as "Grandpop". My research shows that Manoel was born in the same village as my great-grandmother, just six years before her. I would dearly love to know more details about their relationship, and discover the full extent of the part Manoel Ferreira played in their lives.

Interesting historical note: When I found Antonio d'Almeida Sobral's 1928 death record, it mentioned that he was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, but died while still in the hospital of "a broken neck and crushed 5th vertebra." Now, I'm no doctor, but I don't believe broken necks are the usual final stage of pneumonia...
