WEARING OF THE GREEN
St. Patrick converted many of the Irish people over to Christianity. His followers eventually
adopted the custom of wearing a green shamrock during his feast day. St. Patrick's Day is
also associated with the color green because it is the color of the Spring season, Ireland,
and the green shamrock.
The modern day tradition of wearing the color green on St. Patrick's Day started with school
children. Supposedly, if you weren't "NOT" wearing some kind of green clothing or green
adornment, you would be pinched. Classmates would be on the lookout for anyone who had
not worn "green" to school. This tradition continues in schools even today.
SO...wear green on St. Patrick's Day...so you won't get pinched ~!~
