Leprechauns

St. Patrick's Day is also associated with "Leprechauns".  The Irish legend of the Leprechaun

has been told in stories, films and by word of mouth.  Leprechaun are Irish fairies, who are

unsociable, unfriendly, and they live alone.  They make shoes and possess a pot of gold.

Supposedly, if you catch a Leprechaun, he must tell you where the treasure of gold is.  But

Leprechauns try to trick their captors and vanish.

Today, the Leprechaun is seen on greeting cards, decorations and during the celebration

of St. Patrick's Day.
