SHAMROCKS

The shamrock is the traditional icon for St. Patrick's Day.  St. Patrick used the three-leafed

shamrock to explain the Trinity to his Christian converts.  He used it in his sermons to

represent how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were separate yet part of the same

entity.  St. Patrick's followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

Finding a four-leaf clover means double good luck for the person who finds it.  The use of

the shamrock continues today during the celebration of St. Patrick's Day (greeting cards,

decorations, etc.).
