ROCKETT'S
CASTLE
Various
records bear out some proof that the remains of
Rocketts Castle was the site originally referred to
in a grant dated September 12, 1199 by King John to
Sir Elias Fitz Norman (de la Rochell--de la
Rupella).
It is believed Rocketts Castle was erected before
the year 1212, as the tower is of Norman construction
and consists of five floors with a 10-14 ft. wall
surrounding a large area, including various servant
quarters and stables.
The fortress
Manor House was destroyed by fire in the 17th or 18th
century.
The remains
of this ancient Castle is situated on a bend of the Suir River, very near the townland of Portlaw, county Waterford, IRELAND. In fact, the mailing address of the Castle is Portlaw townland.

This is my cousin Jim Rockett of Colorado who took the photos of Rockett's Castle shown at my website.
