I have wonderful memories of the trip that Ben, my hubby, and I took to Europe. We flew to Paris, then to Nice, and from Nice, we took a bus to Cannes on the French Riveria. We visited Monaco, the French Alps, and the Italalian Riveria.

THE FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE

When we left Cannes, we discovered the French countryside and the picturesque villages.

French Village On A Mountainside

The French Alps are a memorable sight. We were there in May and there was snow on the ground. The roads were narrow with very few guard rails, and the tour bus we were on had to back up a few time. I shuddered when I looked out the window and saw the deep ravines. The bridge in the photograph was a common sight.

THE FRENCH ALPS

While we ate lunch we watched skiiers on the mountainside.

A View From Out Tour Bus

A CHALET IN THE ALPS

We saw beautiful chalets and ski lodges, and the food was delicious. Every table had three caraffs of wine: red, white, and rose. :)

COTE D'AZUR

While in Cannes we stayed at the Four-Star Hotel Gray D'Albion, situated on the Rue d'Antibes. We had a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Lerins Islands from our balcony

THE BEACH AT CANNES

The beach at Cannes is a strip of narrow brown sand, and isn't at all impressive. I wonder if the reason it's so popular is because many of the sun-bathers are topless?

GRASSE: THE PERFUME CAPITOL

We visited a perfume factory in Grasse and saw how perfume is made. It was an interesting tour and of course I had to have a few vials of perfume, which, by the way, are labled with a number and not by a well-known name. The tour guide told us that the popular labels (Chanel #5, etc.) are attached at the company that buys them.
