Vee's Book Reviews:

The Millionaire Next Door, by Thomas J. Stanley, PHD, and William Danka, PHD. It's a story about America's rich, and how they got that way. Vee says, it will change your perception of what wealth really means.

My Son by Carol Loving. A touching and tragic story of a mother and her 27 year old son, who's a victim of ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease), and the decision they make together.

The Diana I Knew , By Mary Robertson. (Diana was Mary Robertson's nanny while she lived in England). Vee says that Mary tells a good story and that she gives insight into the life of the young Diana.

Scorpion Tongues, by Gail Collins. Vee says that Ms Collins tells us stories about our political greats, and the near greats. And that she also tells stories about some of our celebrities.











Recipes From Vee's Kitchen




Combine the flour, eggs, ricotta in a large bowl. Mix with hands until soft. Cut a small piece of dough and roll it into a long, round shape. Cut the dough into pieces about 1 inch long. Press a finger in each piece and form the long sides into a shell. Arrange separately on a floured board and sprinkle with flour. Drop pieces into boiling, salted water and cook until they rise to the surface. Remove with a strainer, place in a bowl and add your favorite sauce, plus parmesean cheese.
GNOCCHI

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 eggs
pinch of salt




ZEPPOLES




Dilute the yeast in a couple teaspoons of warm water. In a bowl, place floour, salt, and yeast. Mix well, add water, mix again. Dough should be sticky and wet. Cover the bowl with a tea-towel and set in a warm place for 1 hour or until the dough is doubled. Heat the oil and with a wooden spoon, drop small amounts of the dough into the oil. Cook until brown, then drain on paper towels and sprinkle with Confectioners sugar. Serve hot!
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp salt
1 package dry yeast
2 cups hot water
oil for frying
