Connor's Room - August

August

August 8, 1997 - "Connor had some catnip with the rest of the gang tonight
and he really mellowed out,
maybe that would help him stop biting?"

August 24, 1997 - "Connor is now liked by all,
Liz is even letting him snack from her dish.
He still is very submissive and will go up to one of the others
and plop down and make a 'chirring noise'. (Smart guy)
Strong guy too, he can now hop onto the coffee table
or into a chair and the bad leg never touches the ground.
I wonder what all he does when I'm gone?"

August 27, 1997 - "I'll tell you,
I hate to think of how empty our lives would be without our kitties!!!

I'm glad that's one picture I don't have,
actually Connor looked worse right at first
than cats that Mark has told me about that don't make it!

Just lately all the cats are treating Connor like he is their pet,
really being nice to him.

He naps with the kittens.

August 29, 1997 - "Connor is getting to be a butterball
now that he's eating with the gang.
That's what Dr. Mark wants, I am giving him
the malt Nutrical which he loves,
that's 3 times a day, a very high calorie supplement.
Elizabeth wants some too but she is already dragging the ground!

August 31, 1997 - "...a letter Connor got from a lady & her cat in France!
I knew this guy would end up getting more mail than I do.

He and Duncan are having a snoring contest right now..."

Editorial comment:

All of you out there who are owned by cats know very well that cats have a body language all their own.

Please compare the first picture of Connor in his cage with the picture below.

In the first picture, he is wary, leans away from the camera...in only a little over 2 months, Nancy took a frightened, hurt cat and this is the result....

Relaxed and Happy

What a tribute to a wonderful lady and "The Cat Who Can"!

Without Nancy's knowledge,
I sent this story in to Deborah at MEOW, a No-Kill Shelter,
for a Rescue Story Contest they were having.
I hoped her story and Connor's would be considered for a prize,
and I wanted to surprise her.

Connor's courage and Nancy's determination took Second Place!
Nancy will be receiving her award in regular mail.
The award with Connor's picture is on the top of his first page,
the "Angel" Award is directly below this.

The Angel of MEOW

Ah, but is Nancy the only winner of a prize here?
Nay Nay!  No way!

Check out what Connor won!

Watch Out World!    Connor won a car!!!
