'Pound Pup'

Hello Everyone!! My name is Merlin. I came upon my name from the Fayette County Dog Pound. Ok...you have to sit down, and get a load of my story!! The person writing this, or anyone else for that matter, can't start at the beginning, because noone really knows where I came from. It was Nov. 1997, and it was cold. I found this car with the doors unlocked. I didn't see anyone using it, so I thought they wouldn't mind if I did. Suddenly, this gentleman comes out and chased me away. When I see him out of sight, I go back to the car, and return to my spot inside. Little did I know that the man was sitting at his window, watching for me. And to his COMPLETE amazement, he watched me (a dog) open his car door, and climb inside!!! Well, even though I am such a BEAUTIFUL dog....these people couldn't keep me, so they turned me into the Fayette County Dog Pound.

I stayed at the pound, and became a part of the family, for some time. I was given my own bed to sleep in, and walked everyday. The Dog Warden started to notice a few funny things about me when she took me for walks. One day, I saw this man come running from behind a building, and I started barking at him. I was pulling at the lead, like wanting to go after my pray. The Dog Warden gave me a command in German, and I responded without hesitation. The Dog Warden called a friend of her, the owner of this page, because she knew that Christine knew german commands, and wanted her to come out and put me through some little test. When she did, they discovered that I had been trained completely in german. So their best guess is that I am either a retired police dog, or was trained for SchH work. I stayed at the pound for about a month. The Dog Warden knew that I was a special dog, and just needed a place to live out my final days! Then, one day, this real nice man came to look at me. He and the Dog Warden talked about me for a long time, and then he began taking something out of his wallet......YEAHHHHH...I had a new home!!! At present time, I'm an only child. I have full run of my new home. I went back to the dog pound not that long ago for a visit. After my intial greeting of the Dog Warden, I settled down at my master's feet, and watched him, comfidential, while they admired me!!

Christine took these pics of me when I was home with her getting all groomed up for my new owner.
