Cadmen the Cat

The children and I went out to a farm to get a kitten. They picked a fluffy, cute butterball, but I pointed out a little runt, who was orphaned and nursed off the "auntie" cats when the others were done. He was covered with dog goober, because the farm dogs used him for a toy. I convinced the kids this little guy needed a loving home, so we took him home.

He turned out to be the best cat.

Cadmen had to live outside, on our covered deck, a story above the ground. My husband made an insulated house for him. It was so well insulated that sometimes in even in the dead of Wisconsin winter, he would have his feet sticking out to cool off.

Cadmen loved his people. We lived on a 30 acre park and when we went for walks, Cadmen followed along.

He started living up to his name(It means great and fearless hunter)right off. He started with crickets and graduated to grasshoppers the first summer. We had an abundance of grasshoppers that year and Cadmen grew to a healthy butterball in no time.
