"So many people have babies that are not wanted or cared for."the animals exclaimed. "I know." the Angel said."This young couple" the oldest cat pointed out,"is so very ready!." "They will be SUCH good parents." the younger cat put in. "And," the big yellow dog added,"they have so much family backing!." "I know," said the Angel,"but, it will happen."
"Let someone else take it on." the cats demanded."But who would want to?" the Angel asked?
"I will!""I will!" "I will!" the animals shouted in unison, "Take one of us."
"It will be VERY hard," the Angel warned,"it would take alot of strength."
The animals argued amongst themselves, and the big yellow dog won out."I am the strongest," he declared, "I will take it on, let her be born healthy and live with them. They will be good with her."
So it was, that the big yellow dog took on the pain and death, for he knew the babe was worth it and the parents were good.
The young couple agonized over the decision to let the big yellow dog go, but they couldn't let him suffer any longer.
He knew what was to come and he was happy, because he knew, "They love me, but she is all important. I will be their good memories, but she is their future."
So he left them and they will always remember how he was a good dog and she will always be there for them in his stead.
