wake up call at 5:30 am to meet the mini-bus to take us to the Reventazon River. We are met by our guides from Adventuras Naturales and driven to Robertos Rancho for breakfast.
Here we are expected and sit down to a nice breakfast of fresh watermelon and pineapple, blackberry juice, scrambled eggs, toast and black beans and rice.(a staple in the diet here.)
The river looks decievingly calm.
The first rapids are very exillerating.
and the river gets faster.
and the action gets tougher.
We came to the first class 4 rapids (the scale is 1 to 6, with 6 being only for the experts), a huge wall of water washed over the raft, we came down on a bolder and Carol and I popped out like grabbing a wet bar of soap. The tour company is very good. They had a world class kayaker with the two rafts and he helped slow Carol down so we could get her back in the raft.
I didn't feel so foolish when 3 guys went out on the next big rapids.
We were in over our heads in more ways than one, but what a rush!! I wouldn't have missed it. Survivers of the river, click here.
