Instead of getting into the lengthy description of what the
rendering/slaughterhouse plants put into the pet food, I have listed
some links below that you can educate yourself with, and then make
your own decision what you want to feed your pet. Please do READ

The recipe listed below is the much requested and used Satin Balls
RECIPE, which is all natural, known for its nutrition and is great
for just an all natural diet, or super for animals that require
weight gain or have been sickly, or are sick. EASY TO MAKE! Freeze it and
you will always have the best!
Ingredients
10 pounds hamburger meat/or chicken [the cheapest kind]
1 lg. box of Total cereal [or comparable natural brand]
1 lg. box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt
Mix all ingredients together and divide into 10 quart freezer bags
and freeze. You can double the receipe if you want to make a bigger
batch. Thaw as needed.
Uses - take a frozen packs to dogs shows, kept on ice, you will
never have any trouble with it spoiling, even in
the heat of summer days. Feed a pack a day...half in the morning, half in the afternoon. If you want to increase the weight on a dog, feed more; watch your
amounts, if you find to much weight lower the amount you are feeding, if you want more weight, increase, but you should find the above more
than enough for weight gain. Dogs stop all the itching and chewing at
their coats/skin, eyes get brighter, even ears clear up - WOW!
Comments - Per the information received after having the Satin Balls
recipe checked by several vets/labs: Satin Balls has been deemed a
total canine diet. It can be feed by itself or as a supplement, for
however long you wish. I have been told a dog will stop eating when
full on it, and that you can then gauge the amount needed to maintain
weight! Many use the Knox Joint Gelatin instead of the plain Knox
unflavored gelatin. Since this is high in vit C and protein, and is
good for the joints, it would be good for the dogs.
