4. Septimus Witter to Asa Ayres. Deed. To all People whom these Presents shall come; Greeting
Know ye that we Septimus Witter and Anna Witter of the Town of Aurora in the County of Portage and State of Ohio, for the consideration of one hundred Dol -lars paid and received to our full satisfaaction of Asa Ayres of the Town of Chester in the County of Geauga and State aforesaid, do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto him the said Asa Ayres, his heirs and assigns that certain piece or parcel of land in the following described tract or lot of land situate in Township Number eight in the Ninth Range of Townships in the Connecticut Western Reserve in the State of Ohio, and which is also in the County of Geauga, and is known by being a part of lot number five in Tract No two, and is bounded as follows; Beginning at the North West Corner of sd Lot, thence South thirty three and two thirds, thence East 2 deg. North, one hundred and seven Rods, thence North two deg. West, thirty three Rods and two thirds to the North line of sd Lot, thence West to the first mentioned corner, and contains twenty two acres and an half of land be the same more or less. To have and to hold the above granted and bargain -ed premises, with the appurtenances theroff, unto him the said Asa Ayres, his heirs and assigns, for ever to him and their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said Septimus Witter do for myself my heirs, executors, and Administra tors covenant with the said Asa Ayres, his heirs and assigns, that at and until the ensealing, of these presents, I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate, in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same, in manner and form as is above written; and that the same is free of all in -cumbrances whatsoever. And furthermore, II the said Septimus Witter do by these Presents bind myself, my heirs for ever, to Warrant and Defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the said Asa Ayres, his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims and demands whatsoever. And I the said Anna Witter do hereby remise, release and for ever quit claim unto the said Asa Ayres, his heirs and assigns, all my right and title of Dower in and to the above described premises. In Witness wereof we have hereunto set our hand and seal the sixth day of February Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and twenty one. Signed Sealed, acknowledged and delivered in presence of. Hopson Hurd Septimus Witter. (L. S.) Asa Ayres Jr Anna Witter (L. S.) The State of Ohio ) Aurora February 6th A. 1821. Personally appeared Septimus Portage County SS ) Witter signer and sealer of the foregoing instrument and (L. S.) acknowledged the same to be his free act and deed. Also personally appeared Anna Witter, wife of the said Septimus Witter, and having been examined separate and apart from her said husband, and the contents of the foregoing deed having been to her fully explained and made known, did declare, that she voluntarily did sign and as her act and deed did seal, acknowledge and deliver the same without any coercion or compulsion from her said husband, before me, Hopson Hurd. Jus. of the Peace. Received the 3d and Recorded the l0th day of April 1821 in Geauga County Records. Edward Paine Jm.[?] Recorder.
