JOHN J. NORMAN, farmer and stock-raiser, is a native of this county; was
born January 17, 1850, and is the fifth of the eleven children of Joseph T.
and Elizabeth (Williams) Norman, the former a native of Tennessee, the
latter of North Carolina, and respectively of English and German extraction.
John J. Norman was reared a farmer, received the rudiments of an education,
and remained with his parents until he was twenty-one years of age, at which
time he began life for himself, receiving from his parents a horse and cow
to begin with. May 26, 1870, he married Miss Emeline Lake, a native of this
county, by which union succeeded two children--Delie (born February 17,
1871) and George W. (born April 18, 1874). Mr. Norman is now residing on
the farm of his father. He is a Republican by political preference, a
liberal gentleman and an esteemed citizen; he is likewise a practical
farmer, whose success is due to his energy and wise management.
