OWEN WOODS is a native of Ireland, and was born June 24, 1814, and is the
youngest of the family of James and Mary (Welch) Woods, both natives of
Ireland, where they were married and died. They were the parents of four
children--Thomas, Patrick, Catherine and Owen. Our subject was married
while in Ireland, in 1835, to Ellen McCarugh. After emigrating to the
United States, he settled in Morgan County, Ind., in the year 1848, on the
farm on which he now lives, and where he is comfortable and independently
situated. Mr. and Mrs. Woods are members of the Catholic Church, and have
been the parents of eight children--Mary (deceased), Catherine (deceased),
Bridget (deceased), Mary, Ellen (deceased), Katie (deceased), Ann and James.
Mr. and Mrs. Woods are greatly respected in the community.
