2 MILES DOWN

This picture was taken 2 miles underground in Republic Steel Coal Mines at Road Creek, Kentucky. It was taken in 1950 - the year I was born. My Dad (in the lower right side of the picture) was head electrician at Road Creek. The machinery he is pictured with is a continuous miner. I do not know the identity of the man he is with. The music you hear is Sixteen Tons.
