
Joseph Johnson, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come - Greeting: Know Ye, that in conformity with a survey made on the 24th day of June one thousand eight hundred and 52 by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 2624 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Richard Potter a certain tract or parcel of land containing 290 lying in Russell County, on Grassy creek waters of Russell's fork of Sandy River and bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at 2 ashes and sugar tree on the North side of Grassy Creek and on the state line dividing Kentucky and Virginia, thence S. 33° E. 22 poles to a to a beech and poplar on the bank of said creek S. 10° E. 46 poles, crossing the creek to a beech, poplar and spruce pine in a hollow S. 23° E 36 poles to a maple and dogwood by a path S. 27° E 50 poles to a chestnut and 2 dogwoods N. 75° E. 76 poles to a gum on a ridge N. 41° E. 42 poles to a chestnut and a dogwood N. 80° E. 18 poles to a locust N 45° E. 16 poles to a chestnut oak on a ridge N. 7° E. 18 poles to three chestnuts N. 77° E. 30 poles to a white oak N. 22° E. 8 poles to 4 chestnuts on a high knob N. 28° E 84 poles to a beech, spruce pine, and sourwood on the bank of said creek, thence down said creek and crossing the same N. 50° W. 265 poles to the said State line, thence with the State line S. 45° E. 100 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances, to the said Richard Potter and his heirs forever.
