Terry's 3M's: Meditations, Mutterings, Madness

November 30, 1997

I really meant to get an entry made for yesterday, but, time just seems to have gotten away from me. Just like it has today. I'm going to pause here for a few minutes because I haven't had breakfast yet and I just checked the time--1:20 PM.

1:38PM--There that didn't take long.

Part of yesterday and the night before was spent watching the new videos. As a matter of fact, I have spent more time watching movies lately than I have reading. I think.

I seldom go to the movie theater to see a picture. I usually wait until it is out in video. So, I often see movies later than a lot of people do.

Sometimes I worry about my reactions to certain things that happen in the movies though. For instance, I hope that I would be appalled if it happened in real life, but, since it's in the movie Lost World, I was glad that the compys ate the guy who hurt one of them, and I was almost gleeful when the evil instigator became the baby T-Rex's dinner. I thought justice was served.

When I talked about supervising John's visits with his dad the other day, I didn't mean that their talks were supervised. I have no idea what they talk about when John takes his dad over to the slides or swings to play or when they went for a walk around the duck pond.

I am not one of those women who ask their children to report on every detail of what their father said about this or that. I try very hard not to say negative things about John's dad in his presence. The mistrust the boy has in his father is because of his dad's past actions, not because of what I have said. John has my assurance that it is okay with me if he still loves his father. I have no intention of trying to destroy that.

John asked his dad to call after he got back from his visit on Friday. He still hasn't called. (John can't call him because he hasn't got a phone. He calls from a pay phone.) I haven't mentioned it. But, John is a sensitive kid. He remembers little things like missed phone calls.

Well, I'd better close this. It's library day. I may just take the books back and not check out any this time. I haven't finished reorganizing my bookshelves yet, but, I've started to count the books. I have counted 221 books so far and more than half of them are unread. So, it's not like I would have a lack of something to read if I didn't check anything out.
The books are being returned to the library, but, I'm not going. Something else has be done this afternoon. What fun (she said facetiously)! The water heat has sprung a leak and water has traveled through the garage, down the driveway and out into the street. Just what the budget didn't need with only four weeks until Christmas.
