Terry's 3M's
It's just after 9:30 in the morning and I'm taking a well-deserved coffee break. I've fed and watered the dogs, folded 2 dryer loads, have another load of clothes in the dryer and another in the washer. I've swept down the stairs [which would be easier if they weren't carpeted] and swept and mopped the entry tile. My son has finally shown an interest in being read to before going to bed. The night before last, I had the dubious pleasure of reading Godzilla Ate My Homework aloud. Last night, I started another book. The girls are listening to this book as well [maybe because their brother expressed an interest in having the title come true?]. Tonight I start with chapter 3 of The Easter Bunny That Ate My Sister. At least Godzilla was the name of the boy's guinea pig. The Easter Bunny is supposed to be a stuffed animal that came to life. As for myself, last night I read a couple more chapters in Dean Koontz's Dragon Tears. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book and am looking forward to finishing it. Just as soon as I get the rest of my bedroom cleaned up. I got a lot of my books put away. But, I have recently acquired new clothes and am trying to figure out just where I am going to put them. To add to that mess, I started to clean out under my bed. My sister and her husband have a platform bed, so there's no room for anything under their bed. But, my bed? It's a double bed that has a magnet underneath to attract anything that gets near it. I've found more books, the missing boxes of kleenex, one of the girl's shoes that has been missing for a while, my slippers, the lid to a tin box that I thought was lost, a plastic glass that I did not bring upstairs, a container of baby powder, assorted papers and evidence that my son's jumping on the bed has caused damage to the box springs internal organs. Did anyone else have trouble reading John Grisham's The Firm? Or is it just me? I have gotten to the part where the main character gets to the detective's office several times and then have put the book down for months at a time. Then I reread the previous couple of chapters to get in the swing of the book and then stall again. I didn't do that with The Pelican Brief. I read The Pelican Brief in one night! I have two other Grisham books. Maybe I'll read them before I go back to The Firm. If I like the first book I read by an author, chances are that I will try to read everything that has been written by that author. There are exceptions--especially in the area of classics For instance, I loved Pride and Prejudice. I thought it was hysterically funny. But, I haven't read anything else by Austen...yet. Well, I gotta go. I want to get my room clean before I sit down to enjoy a book. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
