Terry's 3M's
The heat! Almost record highs this week...which means temps over 120 during the day! Like I said...hibernation time. Stepping outside is like stepping into an oven! Thank God for air conditioning!!! And I'm not going out on my bike until things cool off either.
The guys are going to pick up some Subway sandwiches for dinner. So, I don't
have to cook. Yea!
I have been visiting the government sites to see what our state's representatives have been up to lately. I'm kinda curious as to the status of the bill that would change the federal income tax into a federal sales tax. I bet it won't pass because of wording. I wouldn't want it to pass if the tax didn't have a ceiling of..maybe 10%. And I don't think that there should be a tax on food, medicine, medical care, or periodicals (even tho' there is a state and local sales tax on periodicals in Nevada.) The bill has been in the Ways and Means Committee since April of '97. Kind of gives a clue as to what to expect, eh? But, it would be nice to dump the IRS. Hey! We could lose a big chunk of government expenses right there! No more IRS=no more money spent on tons of printed forms (not to mention the savings in trees!), money saved on office space, office furniture, postage, personnel (of course, that means that the job market would be flooded with out of work government workers and tax lawyers would have to change specialties). People would have more disposable income. Let's face it...while you might spend the extra money in your paycheck, you might decide that putting half of money that used to go to the government into a savings account might not be a bad idea. Once upon a time, I did have a savings account. Unfortunately, the medical insurance I had at the time didn't cover injections and only covered a fraction of the doctor's fees. So, I ended up liquidating the account to cover medical fees.
But, I liked the feeling of security that having a savings account gave me.
I'd like to have that feeling again some day.
Remember last month's entry about what if I won a lottery? I said that I would write more about it later. Well, I have started a fake journal about that and called it The Lottery Journal. (It's on a site I had at Tripod that I started when geocities offered less space and I was running out of room here.) BACK HOME NEXT ![]() |
