Terry's 3M's: Meditations, Mutterings, Madness

Terry's 3M's

September 12, 1998

We were about five houses from home on Thursday when it started to rain. Huge drops. But it was over before we even got home. It lasted for maybe two minutes.

Yesterday it poured. The kids are used to thunder and lightning. But, not like this. A flash of light almost directly overhead with the crack of thunder right on top of it. I thought it was beautiful...even if it was too loud. The kids were scared tho'.

It poured here. I looked as if it was going to flood over the sidewalks. But, the big empty ditches down the road did their job and the water sluiced off into them instead of flooding. But, I heard that the park flooded.

My mother called to see how we were doing. She lives Northwest of here and she told me that she heard the hail on the roof and when she looked out the back door, hail was bouncing off everything not on the ground. It's still been hot during the days, although the temperatures have been in the nineties lately instead of the hundreds, and the hail melted as soon as it touched the ground.

My mom's house is several feet above the level of the sidewalk. Which is good because her street flooded.

My sister called from downtown to say that it was hailing there. And Bryan called from school because he said that school officials weren't letting anyone without a ride walk home from school because of the hail and he would be on the late bus home.

It looks like it hailed just about everyplace in town...except here. We just got tons of rain, lightning, and thunder.

The kids were upset because I wouldn't let them watch tv. We played tickle torture and shove the kid off the bed instead.

Faye said that they were offering Early Outs (not enough business to keep all the dealers busy, so, you can go home early if you want to). She said to them: "What? So I can go home and NOT play on my computer? No, thanks!"

Ever try to type while a little kid is practicing the recorder? It gets a little nervewracking.

I probably won't be able to do this after the kids go to bed though. Faye's busy sending out an example of Visual Mail to various potential customers in the evening. It's works by using your camcorder and the visual mail software to make a moving e-mail message. If you'd like to see what it looks like, e-mail me. It's pretty cool. And the possibilities......
