Notes for MARY JOHNSTON:

Mary committed suicide by hanging herself in the Haley house. This was published in the suthern Citizen Newspaper, 19 Apr 1839, published in Asheboro, Randolph Co., N.C. Margaret McNeely visited the sight in the 1980's. She found out that the reason for Mary hanging herself was that she caught her husband "fooling around" with the slaves.
