Uncle John Remembers

Shawn Ray Denson left today,
And Never Said Goodbye
He simple slipped away
Leaving us to wonder why?

Well, Shawn indulge me
And let me talk to you
I have to have time to reminisce
Because now only memories will do.
Let me remember that special little boy
Let me remember when I took you by the hand
And let me remember the little boy that left
And then you were a young man!

Now Shawn , How can it be?
It seems I only looked away
Then in only an instant it was
Then this very tall young man came to stay!

Well stay you did Shawn
You wrapped around my heart
You brought a love of laughter to me
Always ready to do your part!

Now, How do I reach you?
What's the address where you've gone?
Never mind I know it----
Hevn--Luv U, Shawn!

When I sit at my computer
I will think of you each day
I will click on "windows of heaven"
And wait for you to say---
"Now Uncle John, you know I love you
But we simply had to part
Although I am well aware
That it broke both of our hearts!"

"Mine broke and I went home
Yours will mend I know one day
For as long as you remember me
I will never be far away!"

"So stay strong now Uncle John
And know I loved you too
From the child to manhood
That I'm so thankful I had you!"

"Now Uncle John there is one thing
You can do for me
Take my little son's hand now
And tell him about us --
Make him an Uncle John memory!"

Well now I know I can do this
For my Shawn I know!
And I can finally say "Goodbye"
As Shawn has taken the Lord's Hand,
I will take his son's
And one day we will know the why?
