Our Story

Our interest in homeschooling became a very real opportunity for us in 1998. Our two oldest boys were having problems in school that were getting progressively worse. Both boys have been diagnosed with ADD and the school system was not equipped to help them. Their grades kept getting worse and their self-esteem was going down as well. We decided to give homeschooling a try in the fall of 1999. When the boys came home from summer vacation however, they decided they wanted to wait. We agreed as long as they could keep their grades up. My oldest, unfortunately, was having difficulty focusing in class and his grades began to drop. In November we finally decided to pull him out of school. I think it is the best decision for him. His attitude and interest level has really changed. He seems much more relaxed which has really opened him up. He actually asks for more work to do. Can you believe that? Its a parents dream! =)

We have only been homeschooling for about two weeks, but he has improved so much over that period of time. I know from this experience, that none of my younger children will attend a public school. I would highly recommend homeschooling to any one interested. It gives children so much more control over their education by providing the opportunity to learn in their own way. They can take more responsiblity in what they learn and how they learn it. Then children can appreciate their education and realize that life provides opportunities to learn for the rest of their lives.
