Genealogy got it's grip on me in 1988 when I looked into it a little in order to have something to hand down to my children. Little did I know at the time that genealogy is like a vine that wraps itself around your soul and grows and grows! The person who claims to have "done" thier genealogy as if it were a thing that could truly be finished, is a person who never understood it to begin with. Genealogy once started, is never truly done. There is always one more generation that can be turned up, one more ancester to find, one more document to send for or one more dusty record book to check. Each triumphant bit of information leads to more questions, which lead to more research, which lead to more questions and so on and so on! I hope I can instill this love in at least one of my children so that my work will never truly be "finished"!
