~Web Tv Cut-n-Paste~
~Welcome! I'd like to thank my friend, Marianne, for all the help she's given me since I got my web tv! Now, on to the cut-n-pasting. First of all, grab a pen & some paper. I'm sure you'll remember it all soon enough, but it's easier to have it on hand to refer to for a while. Lets see...we'll start with e-mail, & work our way up.To select a whole message, you hold down the "cmd" key, & press the "a" key. It should highlight the whole message in grey. Next, we'll repaste it somewhere. Don't worry, it will be saved until you either log-off your web tv, or until you copy or cut something new. So, we're all highlighted here, hold down "cmd" again, & press "c" to copy it. Now hold down down "cmd" again, & press "v" to paste it. (Recap..."cmd" & "a" to select whole message, "cmd" & "c" to copy it, "cmd" & "v" to paste it.) Try it here. Click (press "return" or "edit") on the box below first, or it will copy the whole page! Press your return key after you copy it to move on to the next line.
Now lets cut (remove the text) this time, we can select it all, or just some...put the cursor (little blue blinky thing) where you would like to begin cutting, hold down the "shift key, & press the arrows over & down until you've got the portion you want highlighted. (Hint...the down arrows highlight whole lines at a time, while the over arrows only highlight a letter at a time.) Also, if you go too far, you can reverse the arrows while still holding down the "shift" key. Ok...to cut, you hold down the "cmd" key, & press "x" (like scissors.) This will remove the text, & you can put it somewhere else. I've also found it's faster to cut text than try & delete it with the backspace (delete) key. You don't HAVE to put it anywhere if you choose not to.(Recap..."shift" & arrow keys to highlight specific text, "cmd" & "x" to cut it, "cmd" & "v" to paste it.) Try it here.
Ok...last but not least, we'll copy some text from a page that doesn't let you move the cursor around on. What you do is push the "find" button & type in the word you're looking for. Lots of times the word will appear more than once on a page, so you may have to type more. It highlights the first word it finds on the page. You should know what to do from here. (Remember?...hold down "shift", arrow over &/or down, "cmd" & "c" to copy, or "cmd" & "x" to cut, & "cmd" & v to paste.) Try it one more time...you should be a pro by now!
**Newsflash...here's a really good tip for ya'! If you're using your find key, but the word appears more than once, & it keeps going back to the first word on the screen, hold down your cmd key, & press the "g" button. Do it as many times as needed until you get to the exact area you want to highlight. If you go too far, switch to cmd & "b" to go back.**
