Jim,
When I walked into HQ tonight, I read the notification about your K-9 Baron passing away. I just want you to know how personally saddened I am to hear such news. It's a terrible loss to you, your department and community, and to all of the officers, myself included, from other departments who have had the privilege of seeing you and Baron in action when assisting us with tracks, building searches, or drug searches.
As an officer and especially as a supervisor, it always gave me great comfort to hear a dispatcher advise me that you and Baron were on duty for those times I needed a K-9. I knew two things I could count on - you would respond to help whenever asked, and you and Baron would do the job the right way; professionally and very thoroughly. You've made my job, and the job of so many officers and departments over the years, much easier during the critical incidents you and Baron responded to assist us with.
Regrettably, I am one of two officers working dayshift in the Township on the day the services for Baron are going to be held. I'm very sorry I can't be there.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. As always, if there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Cpl Dave Duffy
Doylestown Township
