Seeking Solitude...
The mother of three small children, each born only 2 years apart, often found herself exhausted by the end of the day. Along with the children's father, she had set strict rules that after story time...prayers...one small drink of water...and a final trip to the bathroom, each child must go to bed and stay there.
One night, after a particularly trying day, all 3 children were finally tucked into bed and the 2 parents headed to the kitchen for some cookies, milk, solitude, and a little time alone together. They had just started to relax when they suddenly found themselves surrounded by 3 little people, all standing in silence as they watched Mom and Dad each bite into a delicious home-baked cookie. Turning to Dad, Mom asked, "Well, do we relent, or do we stick with the rules?"
Before Dad could answer, their 3 year old daughter piped, up, "Stick with the rules, Mom!"
Knowing that her daughter didn't really want to be sent back to bed, Mom asked, "And what exactly are those rules, dear?"
Her daughter replied without hesitation, "Share with one another!"
