This is his life.
I married Jim and had 3 children, Charlene, Betty, and Fred. Jim had one, Danny. Together we had Jimmy and Jammy. My children became Jims when we married and no one knew they were his stepchildren, and to them he was there dad. So you see we did not have” step” children they were ours. There was about 11 years difference between the two. To look at them when they were almost identical. When Jammy got older he went to work at a construction company, and one of the guys worked there went to school with Jimmy, he thought Jammy was Jimmy until he got the chance to talk to him. So you see this was very hard for him to deal with, because he loves his brother so much. His older sister Charlene she has always been one to protect her brothers, and it has been hard on her also. She is a diabetic and has a hard time dealing with Jimmy’s death, but she has dreams were he comes to her and tells her that he is all right. Sometimes in her kitchen she sees little blue lights floating around, and it makes her feel at peace. When Jimmy was younger about 14 Charlene lived above us in a trailer. He used to go up there on Halloween and try to scare her by peeking in her windows, she would get so mad at him and then he would just laugh at her. Him and Betty were also very close, because they grew up together. She was a big tom-boy during school and would always protect him from the bullies. They both loved motorcycles and rode a lot together. Fred also loved motorcycles. They were all four very close. My sister’s daughter Bridgett Murray has lived with me since she was two, and Jimmy and Jammy were both like “big brothers” to her. Danny lived with his mother, but him and Jimmy were close too. Charlene is still living in Bugbee, Tx. Betty is living in Stinnet Tx. Fred is in Borger, Tx . Danny lives in California. Jammy joined the navy where he is based at Kingsbay, Georgia. He works on a nuclear submarine, goes out to sea three months three months and is on base three months.
He was a precious baby a good boy all of the time, never gave his parents any trouble. He grew up and got married to Laurie. They were very much in love. Laurie was adopted and always wanted to know who her real mother was, Jimmy helped her find her mother. They wrote letters back and forth and just about that time in Jimmy’s life him and Laurie started having a few problems. Jimmy worked for the state prison in Amarillo Tx. Lorie worked for a telephone company in Amarillo also. When they started having problems, Laurie decided to move away from Amarillo. Jimmy did not want her to go, but he said that he would help her move. He also said he would move down there to where she was as soon as possible. She agreed with that and so the nightmare started.
Jimmy decided to move over to my house so Laurie could have time to herself. He was in the process of moving. The weekend of labor day in 96’ him, is dad, and I went to the lake in Altus and spent the weekend together. The next Friday night, Jim and I went to Jammy’s football game, and Jimmy was supposed to go with us. But he did not back from Amarillo in time. So Jim and I went ahead and went to the game with out him. When we came home Jimmy had left a note on my dishwasher and it said: Mom gone to town be back soon Love Jimmy. But he didn’t come home that night. At 8:00 the next morning the sheriff knocked on our door and said that Jimmy had been found in a park in Amarillo, and that he had committed suicide. We went to Amarillo to find out what had happened and my husband went to the police, and they told him that Jimmy had taken his life, and Jim asked what happened. They did not want to talk to him. They were very rude and Jim asked where Jimmy was they said that they were not for sure but they thought he was at the funeral home behind the police station. So we asked if they were going to do an autopsy. They said no, they did not need to do one so Jim got mad and asked them why. They said there was no need to. So Jim asked them if they would check Jimmy’s hands to see if he had fired the gun. They said no the case was closed, and they would not reopen it. Jp said it was suicide and there would be no further investigation. So on our own we found out from the time Jimmy was found at the park until the time they closed the police report there was about 45 minutes, there was no investigation. The man who found Jimmy, we found out later was a bum that lived in the park in his pick up and lied to the police about what happened. He said he went to a friends house across the street to tell them to call the police that he had found a man when he was doing his morning jog. But we found out that the people across the street didn’t even know him and that they had seen him sleeping in the park for about a week, and they were scared of him. The police never went to the people to ask them if they knew him or if they had seen anything. The only person that they talked to was the man that found him in the park. So we don’t know what happened to our son except that he was found in a park with a gun shot wound to his head and that it made the Amarillo police department mad, because he took his life mad in the park. I have talked to a lot of people where their children have died unattended deaths. And they were always an autopsy done, but they would not do one on my son. My husband Jim wrote the Jp Woodall a twelve page letter telling him how much we loved our son and wanted to know what had happened to our son. The Jp called me at home after he had gotten the letter and said they had done all that they could do and there would be no further investigation. I do know that all of Jimmy’s money was missing, and his hat was also gone in which he never went anywhere with out, and we really don’t know what happened that night in the park except that on his death certificate it says suicid
