Many calls have come in asking me about our Indian Collection at the Bartow Family Research Library. We have a really good resource of material. The most popular is the MILLER AND DAWES PLUS rolls. In these two books you will find the name of the person his/hers age/ parents, degree of Indian blood and their residence. This is one of the most valuable books we have on the Native Americans. Also I would like to add this, I received word from a dear friend in Tahleguah OK., The Western band of the Cherokee have a new Chief , everyone is so happy of the change. And they have been located in the Alabama State Archives has very important genealogical information and can be seen in Boxes #121 and #122, 7N, Range 13, Section 3, Shelf C. This comes to us from Chester R. Johnson, Hurst, TX. The family Research Library in Cartersville has a copy of this book through the generosity of Cousin Earl Lewis. McGREGOR- BREWSTER, LTC Thomas Finley writes: Congratulations on a great site. Has been a while since I searched Bartow and this was a wonderful surprise. You obviously put much thought and effort into this. I am a descendant of Rheese McGregor and Charlotte Pierce Brewster who came to Cass/Bartow around 1832. Later they lived in what became Polk. Rheese was a state legislator and local judge. Also in the State Constitutional Convention of 1850. Have been unable to pinpoint whether they were married in Bartow.
