The photo was taken on December 6, 1970, when George was assigned to the Public Affairs Office of the First Naval District Headquarters in Boston,Ma. A few years ago when he was living in Escondido, CA, he donated the paper to the museum there ... THAT WAS THEN.
BELOW ... A photo I took from a newspaper clipping of George Lockhart and George Cates. Though they didn't know each other while in the service, they met and become acquainted after finding out they both now live in Arkansas, just 80 miles apart ... and both served on net tenders. George Cates served onboard the USS Teaberry, (AN34)... and George Lockhart served onboard the USS Silverbell, (AN51). ... THAT WAS THEN !
