CAT FEDERATIONS
TRADITIONAL CAT ASSOCIATION
TCA They are a non-profit organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to their motto: To Promote, Protect, Preserve and Perpetuate the Traditional Cat. Their members are working to ensure the continuation of a gene pool supporting health, longevity and the traditional physical characteristics of the cat breeds admitted to their Association.
Their Objectives
CAT FANCIERS ASSOCIATION
CFA was founded in 1906 to provide registry services to the owners, breeders, and exhibitors of purebred cats, and in 1987 processed its one-millionth cat registration. In 1988 alone, it registered seventy-five thousand cats. In addition, CFA provides services such as genetic screening of applications to assure the integrity of pedigrees, cattery reports to help breeders stay informed regarding the achievements of cats of their breeding and recognition programs for both breeders and owners. It also publishes a variety of pamphlets and a monthly magazine. The federation is active in the United States, Canada, Japan, and France. In 1968, CFA established the Robert H. Winn Foundation, which encourages the study of feline health and provides funds to the various schools of veterinary medicine throughout the US. CFA underwrites the operating expenses of the foundation so that 100 percent of its donations are used for grants.

AMERICAN CAT FANCIERS ASSOCIATION
ACFA was formed in 1955 by a group of cat fanciers seeking greater flexibility in the development of cats. They also sought expanded activities for cat lovers and greater growth and harmony with contemporary needs of breeders and the cat fancy at large. This federation was the first to promote multiple titles and the first to recognize wins from other "recognized" associations that could apply to multiple championships titles. It was also the first to judge the altered cat in championship competition in a separate class. ACFA also began the practice of the multiple-ring championship show.
