AUGUST 1992

Houston, Texas, Pastors Arrested

This was the time of the Republican National Convention out in Houston, Texas. Since 1976, the very next presidential election after the dreaded Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, the Republican Party platform has been pro-life (for the protection of the right to life of unborn children). Of course there are always a few distractors in any group. So pro-life people have to get involved and be in the right places at the right times. To be on the Republican Excutive Committee in your own county gives you a voice and a vote in some critical areas. If we do not get involved and committed we will never win any wars. Abortion is a war against the precious unborn babies. Operation Rescue thought that if enough pro-lifers were out in Houston, Texas during the time of the Republican National Convention that maybe we could attract some media coverage for the plight of the babies since there would be thousands of journalists and cameras out there to cover the convention.

A friend of mine and I drove out to Texas. I was going to Rescue babies, and she being pro- choice at the time wanted to attend the convention. It wound up that there wasn't much going on at the convention during the day so my friend and I went to demonstrations in front of the abortion chambers. I never did get to do an actual Rescue, but somehow wound up on the sidewalks as a spectator. When my friend saw and heard in person how demonic and blood thirsty the pro-death side was she was convinced that being pro-life was the side to be on. God's Word says Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.

A woman Judge in Houston who was to preside over the rescuer's cases was a militant pro- death person. She is a member of the board of Planned Parenthood, and had (and may still have) a financial interest in a local death chamber. The pro-death people had requested a judge to put an injunction on the pro-lifers, that they should not be allowed within 100 feet of their killing centers, and it was granted to them. So when a group of pastors went down to pray on the public sidewalk near a killing center, they were arrested. There were numerous pastors that got together and took out a full page ad in the newspaper that told the woman judge who had set the injunction prohibiting prayer or preaching within 100 feet of the killing centers that they were going to defy her injunction and challenged her to place them in jail along with the other Christians, because it was a flagrant violation of our First Amendment rights to tell pastors and ministers of the Word of God where we can and cannot pray or preach on a public sidewalk.

There were thousands of queers, and lesbians in Houston. The president of the NOW gang is a professed lesbian and alot of her followers, plus members of Act Up, and Queer Nation were there for two reasons. First they were there full of sin and disease to try to prevent the Christian pro-lifers from being near the killing centers to save babies. Secondly they had a demonstration where they burnt an effigy of President Bush, because they thought he should have spent more of our tax dollars on AIDS research (which I think is a disease of choice), then they burnt an American flag, and threw police barricades on the fire and started burning them. Out of all this, only six of them were arrested. The police are intimadated by these queers because they have AIDS, and it was much easier to arrest passive, praying pastors, and Christians.

A Footnote

Operation Rescue National was sued by Planned Parenthood in August 1992 because we dared to pray on a public sidewalk across the street from a PP abortion mill during the Republican National Convention in Houston, Texas. Several of us were imprisoned for this dastardly act. Planned Parenthood was awarded 1.2 million dollars! On April 19, 1995, constables and Planned Parenthood officials entered the offices of Operation Rescue National in Dallas and seized every piece of office equipment we had. It was sold at public auction.

Woe unto this nation, God is angry!!! Repent and turn from your wicked ways, for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is coming!!
