97. John SILVER was born on 1 Jan 1844 in Yancey County NC. He saw service between 1861 and 1865 in the Confederacy. Joined the Confederate Army on July 11 1861 at the age of 17. He was captured by the yankees on July 11 1864 and was sent to Kentucky and from there to Camp Chase Ohio. He was released on March 10 1865 during a prisoner exchange. He was put on a train to Richmond VA and from there he walked home to Yancey County. He and wife Mary Virginia Hicks had 15 children. He was buried in Jul 1934 in Flat Gap Bap Ch Cem (Jefferson) TN. He died on 5 Jul 1934 in McDowell County NC.
He was married to Virginia HICKS in 1868.
