[Debbie's Den] [My Life] [Excuses] [Links] [Home]
My Life...everything you'll ever need or want to know about me... pro.cras.ti.nate: to put off intentionally and habitually : POSTPONE : to put off intentionally and reprehensibly the doing of something that should be done - procrastination n.... Webster's Dictionary Well, here I am, finally! After surfing the net for almost a year I decided it was time to have my own special place, I was ready. I learned basic HTML, created pages for our family, my husband John, and our dog Courtney. And then, it was my turn -- I just couldn't put it off any longer. I decided on the title Debbie's Den. Although it's not very original, I liked the way it sounded. I choose a background and then.... just stared at the page Well, after a good nights sleep, I thought I was really ready to begin. I was confident that I could write about my life with passion, but I went surfing instead of writing (excuses, excuses!). And after visiting Creating a Successful Web Page and reading the page Deciding on the Content , the following quote is spinning around and around in my head, "Just remember that your web page must have content." Content, that's what I need!
If I wrote that I was born in the 50's, married to the best guy in the world, the mother of two kids and a dog, who spends her spare time on the computer surfing (research of course!) and creating web pages, would that be enough to be considered content? I could include my picture or some of my hobbies -- quilting, sewing, decorating, crafts, whittling santas, backyard bird watching, reading (carving books and magazines of course) -- and I could tell about how I had to plead with my husband John to take away my stenciling brushes before I stenciled every wall in the house! No, I want my content to be unique. I'm a Leo, I like to stand out in a crowd ; -)
Write about what you love ... That's what the articles and books stress. Well, I love everyday living, my family, the changing seasons, snow, the smell of spring, a warm rainy day, a fire crackling in the fireplace, children's voices, music that makes me break out in song, shopping with my daughter (but not if she's looking for shoes), playing with our dog Courtney, animals, daisies, freshly sawed wood, old friends, new friends and I really, really love to laugh. A page on daisies or snow? (it's a thought). Well, I guess I'll have to go back to the keyboard and rethink what would make my personal page unique and interesting. Well, maybe tomorrow. |
I'd love to hear from you :-)
stop procrastinating, just do it!
