The above sentence uses a single-pixel transparent gif, called dot_clear.gif, to achieve fine-tuned spacing.

To space between words, use < IMG hspace=x SRC="dot_clear.gif" >
where x is 1/2 of the number of pixels you want to space over.

To space between lines, use < IMG height=x SRC="dot_clear.gif" >
where x is the exact number of pixels you want to space down.
