John Anderson was a doctor. He was fined 1000 pounds for digging up corpses in the graveyard.
His father paid the fine and John left Scotland for India, where he apparently became very wealthy according to a letter written to Margaret Watson in 1963.

Notes for LEWIS ANDERSON:
According to a letter written by a great-grandchild, Lewis left Scotland seven years before Jane joined him. The letter goes on to say that Lewis left Scotland from Aberdeen. Since the first
American child was born in 1845, this would place Lewis leaving Scotland in 1838, and that was the year that a daughter was born to Lewis and Jane. The daughter never made it to America with conflicting reports about the death occurring either during the voyage or before she left Scotland.
