FOSTER-I am researching my wife's family, the FOSTERS, and have gotten stuck in SC. Her FOSTERs are from SC, most likely from the area along Jeffery's Creek in Darlington and/or the Williamsburg area---along the Mingo Creek. All that I know is that a Widow Mary FOSTER left SC before 1780 with her family, James, John, William, Thomas and Nancy for the Natchez District in Mississippi. They settled there between 1782 and 1784. My wife's ancestor is John FOSTER, born 1757 and died in MS 1836. He and part of his family got Spanish Land Grants in Texas in 1824.

FOSTER, McCOMB/McCOMBS-I am researching the McCOMB/McCOMBS family in FC--2 of the earliest proven of these married into the FOSTER family.
Andrew McCOMB married Rebecca FOSTER. He died in 1819. He owned a grist mill on the Long Cane Creek and carved the stone that marked the grave of Catherine Calhoun and 22 others that were killed by Indians Feb. 1760. Catherine was the grandmother of John C. Calhoun.
One of his sons, Major John McCOMB married Catherine "Kitty" FOSTER. She died Nov 11, 1845. Major John was a member of the SC Legislature and died at age 45-50 in 1819.
Are there any FOSTER researchers out there with Abbeville ties?

FOSTER-I am hitting that proverbial brick wall in searching for my father's father and back. Have sketchy info:
1. There was an "uncle" named Prestley FOSTER. He was one of seven brothers of my grand or great-grandfather. I found him in the Claiborne FOSTER line.
2. My father was supposedly born in Dillard, Rabun CO., GA. When I checked the census at the Fort Wayne IN Library genealogy dept, there were no FOSTERs for 1880. His name was, of course, William---William Alfred FOSTER. I believe his father's name was John.
3. My father was Alfred Byron FOSTER, b 2 Nov 1900.
Any help would be appreciated.
